Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actor and singer, is a former model. She was known as the co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia, a singer/actress christened by Prince in 1984, became one of the many female artists of the 1980s that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress who was born in the city of Santa Monica in 1959. Her first career was being a model on television. In 1984 she landed the role of the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she switched her names) as well as replacing Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 performing with them in the film with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, a minor hit song that was featured on the soundtrack, was her most chart-topping hit. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince after a disagreement throughout her career. Apollonia 6 broke up due to their disagreement. Kotero was in a few minor movies during this period, but reportedly declined to appear in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. Between 1985 and 1986, she got a role in the show called Falcon Crest. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988, but it was not a great album of dance music and R&B that failed to impress the audience. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. She stayed active, if she wasn't in the spotlight as an actress during the decade that followed, with a few film and television roles. A workout DVD was made available. Apollonia recorded a bilingual album called Stay with me. Later, she returned to the college where she earned the degree of filmmaker.
